Help Us Spread Fibromyalgia Awareness!

Join us on Wednesday, April 16, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Student Center (1st floor) as Student Diversity and Inclusion (SDI) and Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) partner with Columbia student Kaitlin to raise awareness about Fibromyalgia. This event will offer support, resources, and a chance to connect with the Fibromyalgia community.
Stop by to create and decorate origami butterflies, a symbol of Fibromyalgia awareness, while enjoying light snacks. Everyone is welcome—we hope to see you there!

Why Origami Butterflies?
The purple butterfly represents Fibromyalgia Awareness, symbolizing the heightened sensitivity to even a gentle touch that many individuals with Fibromyalgia experience.
What is Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder that causes widespread pain, tenderness, fatigue, and sleep disturbances. While the exact cause is unknown, people with Fibromyalgia have an increased sensitivity to pain. Though there is no cure, symptoms can be managed with a combination of exercise, therapy, and medication.
