About Us
Students for Justice in Palestine at Columbia College Chicago (SJPCCC) is a student organization committed to the justice, liberation, and self-determination of the Palestinian people. SJP recognizes the struggle of Palestinians to be an intersection of all oppression and aligns with the broader fight against capitalism, white supremacy, sexism, homophobia, colonialism, and other systems of oppression that are mutually reinforcing. SJP does not recognize the legitimacy of any settler-colonial state and rejects the subjection of Palestine to other nations or international law which has legitimized the ethnic cleansing of the indigenous people living within its borders. SJP embodies the vision and tactics of the BDS movement: a call to boycott, divest from, and sanction Israel for its violations of Palestinian rights. We call for a complete de-colonization of all Palestinian lands seized since 1948, the end to the Israeli occupation of the Jerusalem, the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and Syrian Golan, the right of return for all Palestinian refugees to original homes and properties, and the end of the Israeli system of apartheid. SJPs activities will include cultural events, screenings of films and documentaries, teach-ins and discussions to promote awareness and action towards justice. We are dedicated to educating the campus and will also initiate and participate in campaigns that challenge Israeli apartheid both on-campus and off-campus.
