In the fall of 2024, Columbia College Chicago Senior Interior Architecture students headed to the far South Side neighborhood of Roseland for their final capstone studio sequence. After spending time in the neighborhood, researching the past, and understanding the present with visits with local churches, business leaders and residents, individually, they cast a vision for the future that brings hope, prosperity and good design to this systemically disinvested community. Each student tackled a 20,000 square foot project and will have 20 minutes to showcase their design solution for the community to a formally invited jury of professionals during this 2-day end of college experience. Witness the hallmark of the design industry, a critique, and welcome these alumni to the profession. Additionally, each student will receive after their presentation a final publication document that was a multi-disciplinary effort between Graphic Design and Interior Architecture seniors that captures their research and their vision for the future in a concise project.
