Wildlife Domestication - Samantha McCoy

Humans have been domesticating wildlife for thousands of years. This project specifically focuses on the domestication of pigeons and how they have been affected by humanities abandonment when they were no longer needed for mainstream use. Pigeons are one of the most documented animals best suited to study the long-term effects of artificial versus natural diversity on a population. My research dives into the history and long-lasting effects human domestication has had on modern pigeon's genetics and behaviors.
