You Are Not Alone
This week Tiana Hill, Director of Student Relations, has submitted an article in acknowledgment of Mental Illness Awareness Week with some facts, tips and resources.
Thursday is National Depression Screening Day - if you are interested in completing a depression or other screener, please visit the Counseling Services Link Tree.
According to the Healthy Minds national survey, more than 60% of college students experienced at least one mental health condition. Millions of individuals face challenges with mental health and wellness. In efforts to break barriers to treatment services and dismantle stigmas related to mental health, many organizations and individuals are raising awareness and providing support. Mental health affects everyone directly or indirectly within family, school, friendships, relationships, and working environments. Many resources and opportunities are available for someone struggling with their mental health. Below are tools and tips you can utilize to help manage your mental health:
Speak with a therapist or counselor.
Participate in support groups.
Call close friends or loved ones.
Journal or read a book for at least 10 minutes a day.
Eat a healthy, balanced meal.
Daily physical activity
Get plenty of rest.
Create a music playlist that you enjoy.
Engage in social organizations or events.
