International Day for Tolerance - Nov. 16th
In 1995, November 16th was declared International Day for Tolerance by the United Nations General Assembly. According to the UNESCO, the holiday was enacted to generate public awareness, emphasize the dangers of intolerance and to renew the United Nations’ commitment to tolerance. This day calls upon us to elevate our openness to views which differ from our own through education, asintolerance is often rooted in ignorance and fear: fear of the unknown, other cultures, nations, etc.
