The Schools of Design, Communication and Culture, and Theatre and Dance and the Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion will host a live screening of AIDS Diva: the Legend of Connie Norman on Tuesday, May 6th, 1:00-3:00pm, in the Hokin Auditorium (1st floor, 623 S. Wabash Ave.). A discussion of the film will follow. This FREE event is open to all Columbia College Chicago students, staff and faculty. ASL interpretation provided.

The documentary AIDS Diva portrays the life of Connie Norman, an AIDS activist and early trans advocate who described herself as an “ex-drag queen, ex-hooker, ex-IV drug user, ex-high risk youth and current post-operative transsexual woman who is HIV positive” and simply “a human being seeking my humanity.” Through historic clips, Connie’s bold and passionate voice reaches across time, calling us once more to awaken, get involved, and show up for each other and the world we live in.
