2ND ANNUAL CHICAGO LATINX/E CONTEMPORARY MOVEMENT FESTIVAL (October 2-3, 2026)
Presented in partnership with Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre (CRDT)

Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre’s Chicago Latinx/e Contemporary Movement Festival features CRDT performing alongside six artists/collectives: Anniela Huidobro Castro, Anise Fernández & Amanda Ramirez, Ruben Andrés Castillo Gomez, Mark Travis Rivera | The Professional Storyteller, Paula Sousa, and Victoria Villamil selected through an open call for proposals from Latinx/e creators who engage choreographically with binational and multi-racial identity, multi-generational experiences, immigrant narratives, identity politics, and/or gender expansiveness.

After launching the festival in 2025 at the Ruth Page, CRDT is expanding the second year to two days to include the festival concert with post-show Q&A along with a workshop and panel discussion featuring emerging and mid-career Latinx/e dance makers from Chicago and the greater Midwest working in contemporary, queer and experimental forms of dance, performance, and movement-based storytelling.

"The Latinx/e experience is a beautifully complex and layered mosaic of stories shaped by heritage, migration, identity, queerness, resilience, and joy,” says Wilfredo Rivera, CRDT Artistic Director and CEO. “Through this festival, we uplift and celebrate the depth and diversity within our communities."
