Michael Estanich and Lucy Vurusic Riner’s RE| dance group makes its Dance Center debut with two Chicago premieres by Artistic Director Michael Estanich. In keeping with RE|dance group’s signature style, both dance theater works merge movement, song and text, and complement and serve as foils for one another through divergent approaches in environment and tone.

“We feel strongly that these two works that Michael created separately over the past two years, need to be shared in dialogue in their RE| dance group premieres” says Executive Director Lucy Vurusic Riner. “Our House Upended! examines the challenges and complexity of relationships in contemporary life and we soften our landing and keep on going is a deeply personal exploration of perseverance through purpose and love.”

RE|dance group creates work that uses the physical body as the primary vehicle for expressing ideas, combining elements of dance, theatre, and sculpture to produce imagery and tell stories of the contemporary world. Since its founding in 2009, RE|dance group has performed throughout Chicago, and toured to California, Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, New York, Wisconsin, and internationally to South Korea.
