The Efroymson Creative Writing Reading Series at Columbia College Chicago is one of the most dynamic, aesthetically diverse events of its kind in the city. Hosted by the English and Creative Writing Department, the series attracts prestigious, award-winning fiction writers, poets, and nonfiction writers who perform, engage, and educate on a myriad of topics and traditions.

Jean Chen Ho is the author of Fiona and Jane, named one of TIME’s 100 Must-Read Books of 2022, a Best Book of the Year by NPR, Vulture, Vogue, Oprah Daily, Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar, and Elle, and longlisted for the 2022 Story Prize. Her writing appears in New York Times Magazine, The Cut, Electric Literature, Los Angeles Times, Guernica, and elsewhere. She is the 2023-24 Visiting Assistant Professor in fiction at Skidmore College.

Garnett Kilberg Cohen’s fourth collection of short stories, Cravings, was recently published by the University of Wisconsin Press. She has previously published three books of short stories, and a chapbook of poetry. Her prose has appeared in many places, including The Gettysburg Review, Witness, American Fiction, TriQuarterly, and The New Yorker (2019) online. Her nonfiction has twice been awarded Notable Essay citations from Best American Essays, and several of her stories have won awards, such as the Crazyhorse Fiction Prize and the Lawrence Foundation Prize from Michigan Quarterly Review. Garnett taught writing at Columbia College Chicago for about 30 years.
