C.O.D.E. is Columbia College Chicago's groundbreaking Diversity Equity Inclusion (DEI) career event taking place on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024. What is a Cultural Opportunities and Diversity Expo?

 

We designed CODE as part career fair, part expo, part lunch and learn, where Columbia students can interact with employers and organizations that recruit, mentor, support, promote, and retain diverse talent.

This in-person recruiting event is open to all majors and a chance for students and recent grads to discover career possibilities. You will get to connect with organizations that emphasize representation and highlight opportunities for culturally and ethnically diverse talent.

 

CODE provides space for meaningful interactions and sharing of relevant information and resources to students seeking to connect with groups that provide DEI infrastructure, uphold DEI strategies, and are committed to DEI practices.

Keynote and Alumni Roundtables

Hear from our inspirational keynote speaker, Ayana Contreras! and enjoy a complimentary lunch from Kuma’s Corner with an alum in your field—make new career contacts!

More on our Keynote Speaker:
Ayana Contreras is a cultural historian, memory worker, radio DJ and archivist. An avid collector with over 9000 vintage vinyl records, she hosts the Reclaimed Soul program on WBEZ and Vocalo Radio in Chicago. A 2014/15 University of Chicago Arts + Public Life Artist-In-Residence, she is also a columnist for DownBeat magazine and her writings have been published in The New York Times, Chicago Review, Oxford American and Bandcamp Daily among other publications. She is a regular contributor to the NPR Music New Music Friday Podcast, and her book on Post-Civil Rights Era cultural history, titled Energy Never Dies: Afro-Optimism and Creativity in Chicago, was published December 2021 through University of Illinois Press.
