The Goddess and the Baker is not only a need-to-see spot in the city, it’s a need-to-know spot. It’s the perfect place to meet up with friends for a quick drink, a breakfast date, a quiet study spot, or just a general hangout area. Head over to South Wabash street, just a hop and skip away from Columbia’s 33 Ida B Wells building, for some of the best drinks and food you’ll ever experience.
If you’re interested in the look, the cafe is dressed down in white, gray, and seafoam accents plus the most adorable rustic decorations sprouted all around. Not only does the place brighten your mood, it's a perfect photoshoot area! The layout allows you to have a small personal area for yourself, but you can also share a meal and meet new people at one of their large communal tables.
Not only is the staff extremely talented, they are also extremely friendly. When talking with the exemplary staff they stated that “the environment makes [Goddess and the Baker] stand out. The atmosphere, the customer service, our unique look and style to the restaurant/bakery.” I certainly have to agree with them, I could spend hours in there and be as happy as a kid in a candy store.
To all my non-coffee drinkers: Goddess and the Baker has you covered. Despite being a coffee fiend now, my first love in life was lemonade and the “Passion Fruit Lemonade” is exactly what you want. It is the perfect kind of lemonade that doesn’t overwhelm you with sugar, but has the sourness you need from lemonade. On top of that, it has the sweet flowery blend of the passion fruit mixed in to create something so delicious it almost feels illegal.
The menu at Goddess and the Baker is also to die for. We tasted the rainbow cake and the strawberry croissant and I couldn’t help but melt in my seat. The cake has a great lightness to it that is balanced perfectly with the light buttercream icing and whip cream. It tasted so perfect when I paired it with my golden latte, the flavors and the matching glitter were meant to be together.
The strawberry croissant was flaky, fresh, and so sweet. We didn’t get a chance to sample any of their menu items, but I have full trust in Goddess and the Baker. Goddess and the Baker is also vegan-friendly for our dietary restricted students. For first timers, the staff recommends the turkey bacon and egg croissant or the breakfast burrito for a breakfast meal. For lunch they said you have to try the chicken caprese sandwich, southwest salad, or their specialty angry bird sandwich for those who like a little kick.

Overall, you need to go to Goddess and the Baker immediately. I don’t think words could accurately describe how happy I am that a place like this exists, you need to experience it for yourself. Just remember to leave your cash at home, because they are card only! Grab a friend or grab a book and head down to Goddess and the Baker for a divine drink and killer food, right now!
