Hone your retail, styling, and visual merchandising skills while connecting with fellow School of Fashion students and making an impact on campus before the semester begins!

The Rack is a storefront space at Columbia College Chicago featuring a constantly evolving selection of free secondhand clothing and accessories for students. Designed to foster self-expression in an inclusive and affirming environment, The Rack encourages students to donate, shop, and experiment with their personal style.

During this 4-hour interactive workshop, you'll have the opportunity to:
Tour The Rack and evaluate the store layout, offering ideas to create the most efficient, student-friendly shopping experience.
Sort and inspect new donations and existing inventory, identify gaps across categories, and collaborate on strategies to make the space more inclusive for all Columbia students.
Prepare inventory for the sales floor by steaming, hanging, organizing, and presenting merchandise.
Create engaging visual displays by merchandising clothing and accessories on mannequins, racks, and display cases.
Participate in collaborative breakout sessions and brainstorming activities focused on retail operations, styling, and visual merchandising.
Follow The Rack on Instagram for updates and inspiration:
