The Cultural Opportunities and Diversity Expo—CODE, takes place TUESDAY, APRIL 11, 2023 from 11 am - 2 pm.
Program Overview
11 am - 12:30 pm: Career Fair and Expo
Meet with organizations for employment/internship opportunities, score free swag, giveaways, Luster's Products table, 360 photo booth, DJs, and more!
12:30 - 2 pm: Keynote Speaker and Alumni Roundtable Lunch
Tyla Abercrumbie delivers a keynote followed by lunch with alumni mentors.
Program Details
CODE is open to all students and is especially affirming for our students of color and inclusive of ALANA, AAPI, & BIPOC. It’s an oasis of support, reassurance, and hope in the sea of uncertainty that college can be.
We will host diverse employers such as Live Nation, Chicago Cubs, Build Chicago, The Aids Foundation, a slew of Chicago’s top advertising agencies, Chicago Park District, Chicago Blackhawks, and more. See the full list here:

Our keynote speaker is actor, playwright, director, Tyla Abercrumbie, a 1998 Columbia Alum and star of the Showtime breakout hit, The Chi (by Colum alum Lena Waithe), in it’s sixth season. Read more about Tyla HERE.

Program Background
CODE was launched in 2019, and reprised in 2022 (after returning to campus) to:
1 – create opportunities for jobs and internships with companies deeply committed to DEI, with the resources to recruit, develop, and elevate creatives of color;
2 – develop networking/relationships from students to Columbia alums; and
3 – demonstrate the power of representation.
CODE is for the Soul Sisters and this will be our third successful CODE event with your support!
