Dollop Coffee has become a staple Chicago coffee shop within the past few years, managing to open 14 locations and receive high praise all throughout the city. Dollop has become a lovable and recognizable brand name, even to the point of selling their own bags of coffee. The nearest location on campus is right underneath the Harold Washington train stop, at the corner of Plymouth and Van Buren (aka the Dearborn branch). In this location, you can order off their menu of classic and specialty drinks, or some of their seasonal craft drinks!
Upon entering, the welcoming atmosphere creates a perfect Instagram photoshoot location with an aesthetically pleasing blend of urban and rustic style. Especially since the light beams perfectly inside the shop to create a sunny, joyful day that will instantly lighten your mood. As for the coffee, we tried one of their creative and unique drinks, the Maple Syrup Latte, which I highly recommend. If you prefer more of a classic coffee approach, we also loved the Vanilla latte and Iced Mocha just as much! Personally, I was in love with my Iced Nutella Mocha latte which had a perfect nutty chocolate taste unlike anything I’d ever tried before. I loved sitting on the couch and reading the newspaper they supplied, or even flipping through some of their books. Luckily, we had the opportunity to ask an employee, Michael, about everything Dollop! The coffee aficionado said his favorite drink currently is the special Biscoff latte paired with his all-time favorite food item, a classic glazed donut. Michael said the thing that stands out about Dollop is their quality coffee beans and milk, atmosphere, and their good coffee.
Overall, Dollop Coffee has sensational coffee with creative twists on classic coffee favorites, delicious iconic drinks, and tasty breakfast food options. We definitely recommend stopping by one of their many locations, but especially the Dearborn shop to have a sip of coffee before class for some fuel!
