In addition to Columbia’s theater production of “RENT”, 3 sections of the AIDS Memorial Quilt will be displayed in Getz Theatre Center. During May 1st-3rd and 7th-10th you can attend the “RENT” production at the Getz Theatre Center. “RENT” is a performance depicting the stories of young queer people during the AIDS epidemic, reminding us to take nothing for granted, be caring, and treat people with respect. Many people are very excited to see this show and the tickets left are selling fast! You can get your tickets here! The show ties in beautifully with the display of the AIDS Memorial Quilt. The 3 sections of the quilt that will be shown come from a much larger quilt, that is the largest community folk art project in the world combing over 50,000 panels. It symbolizes the many lives that have been lost to AIDS. The complete quilt can be viewed online, and individual names can be searched at www.aidsmemorial.org/quilt. The quilt can be viewed during April 30th-May 10th, and to hear more from the School of Theatre and Dance Director Jimmy Noriega, click here!
