Congratulations you have now made it to the end of the semester. As you finish strong these final weeks look forward to the nice long break that is ahead. During the break take advantage of this time to get some well deserved rest and relaxation so that you can come back in January ready to take on the spring semester. Whether you are spending time with family and friends or taking the solo journey make sure you make space for self care and continue to check in on yourself. This winter break I challenge you to be productive. That could be setting a goal for yourself or creating something that you are proud of. Being productive doesn't mean that you have to exhaust yourself. It means, make the most of your time. I have gathered a list of a few tips on how to have a productive winter break.
-
Let yourself up for success: Create a plan on what you want to do during your break. Try to stick to that plan as it will benefit you in making new memories or building relationships. Planning is a great way to be productive because it sets small goals for yourself that you will strive to complete.
-
Look forward: What do you need to accomplish after break? Is there a project you can get started or something you can complete? While most of us want to put school aside during our break, it never hurts to see how you can make the following semester easier by starting something.
-
See or meet people: Trust me I love my little bubble of aloneness but try and make time to see others. Social interaction can be important for our mental health as it pushes us to create new bonds that can stimulate positive responses.
-
Take time to celebrate: There are a few built in holiday celebrations on the horizon so make the most of this season by doing some of your traditions or creating new ones. Another reason to celebrate is finishing this semester. You have completed four months of projects, homework, and possibly stressful moments. Celebrate yourself and what you have finished.
-
Relax: I know relaxation doesn't seem productive but it is all in the way you look at it. If you are resting to prepare for the spring semester or self care, it's productive. If you are resting because you are bored and have nothing to do, you are not being productive. Anyways rest and relaxation is very important and it is a necessary part of a break.
We hope you all have a productive and blissful winter break and wish you a strong finish for this semester!
