The Presidential Election is here, and we understand that it can be a very stressful time for students. If you’ve already voted, it can feel like there’s nothing left to do but nail-bitingly watch coverage. Here are a few things you can do to keep your nerves at bay, despite the stakes.
1. Take breaks from looking at Election coverage- you can do this by watching a comforting or light-hearted TV show or movie, give your brain a rest for a bit.
2. Don’t watch alone- Make plans to watch the Election with friends or people you feel comfortable with, it can help relieve stress just to be around others who care about the same issues as you.
3. Prepare/Plan a meal- Though you might feel too nervous to eat, you should take the time to prepare yourself a nice meal, bonus points if it’s comfort food. You’ll feel a lot better if you’re not hungry on top of everything else you might be feeling.
4. Stay busy- The more active you keep your brain and body, the less likely you are to start obsessing over Election coverage. Try to keep up with any assignments or commitments you may have, as hard as it may be.
5. Go to bed- Stress does hard damage on your body and can make you feel exhausted both mentally and physically, don’t stay up all night, go to sleep (We know it’s not as easy as it sounds).
