Are you graduating in May? Here are some answers to some of your burning questions.
Congratulations on making it this far in your college journey. As a senior I know how stressful these past couple of months have been prepping for graduation and making sure everything is in order. Our goal is to make sure when you arrive at graduation that you are present and enjoy the celebration of your accomplishments. Hopefully you have been receiving emails from the commencement team about cap and gown orders as well as the grad checklist. Here are some answers to commonly asked questions.
When am I graduating?
Columbia offers four graduation ceremonies. Two on May 13th and two on May 14th.
May 13th ceremony at 10 a.m. includes American Sign language (U), English and Creative Writing (U/G), Science and Math (U), Humanities, History, and Social Sciences- Includes Cultural Studies (U), Dance (U/G) -Includes Creative Arts Therapies, Theatre (U/G), and Fashion Studies (U).
May 13th ceremony at 3 p.m. includes Business and Entrepreneurship (U/G), Communications (U/G), Audio Arts and Acoustics (U), and Photography (U/G).
May 14th ceremony at 10 a.m. includes Cinema and Television Arts (U/G)
May 14th ceremony at 3 p.m. includes Art and Art History (U/G), Design (U), Music (U/G), and Interactive Arts and Media -includes Animation (U/G)
Where is graduation?
Graduation is being held at the Arie Crown Theater at 2301 S. Jean Baptiste DuSable Lake Shore Drive.
How many tickets do we get?
Graduates will each be given six tickets. The commencement team is planning on releasing information about extra tickets at the end of April. Stay tuned for more information about tickets.
How do I get my tickets?
To get your tickets you need to go to the third floor Student Life Office in the Student Center.
What is the That’s a Wrap event?
This event is for graduates to get photos in their cap and gown, sign up for the Alumni Association, and get your name card that will be read off at the ceremony. You will also have the opportunity to grab any additional graduation gear and decorate your grad cap in the Makerspace.
