We know that when the weather is like this, all you want to do is curl up and never leave the house. However, we also all know that this is not the most productive way to start off your academic success for this semester. Your dorm or apartment has far too many distractions, so here are our favorite warm and accessible spots to study around our campus!
1. Student Center- we'd be completely remiss if this spot wasn;t on our list! With lots of seating and space, you'll be sure to finish up your homework in no time. Additionally, check in with the front desk and see if they have any private rooms available!
2. Peet's Coffee- Right across the street from our student center is the coziest coffee shop of all: Peet's! While this shop is on the smaller side, you can study with a warm pastry and a hot chocolate as a reward.
3. Cafecito- Just past 33 Ida B Wells is the best sandwich shop ever! Here, they serve strong and hot Cuban coffee to keep you motivated. Plus, the cozy couches are always great to sink into some work.
4. Library- While Columbia has its own library, nothing beats the Chicago Public Library branch! Down the street from the dorms and most of the buildings, this massive branch has infinite places to study. While you're there, fill out one easy form and get your library card! My favorite floor is the 7th A.K.A the fiction level!
5. Hero Coffee and Bagel Bar- A couple of blocks further from the library lies Hero! Delicious coffee, spunky decor, and the best bagel sandwiches you can find in Chicago! My personal favorite spot is to study in front of the big window at the front of the shop. You can people-watch a little bit while also staying on task.
We hope this list helps you find your new study spot! When the weather warms up we'll be back with alist of our favorite outdoor spots to study! Stay warm, Columbia!
